India's largest payment gateway — processes UPI, cards, wallets, net banking, EMI for online merchants.

Razorpay launched in 2014 and processes ~30% of India's online payment volume. Pricing: 2% per transaction for cards/UPI/wallets (negotiable above ₹50L/month), with discounted rates for select categories (education, NGO, govt).

Integration: REST API + JS SDK for web, Android/iOS SDKs, plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Magento. WhatsApp Pay integration through Razorpay accelerated payment-link adoption among service businesses.

India context

Razorpay is the default Indian D2C choice. Cashfree and PayU are alternatives but most ecommerce platforms (Shopify India) default to Razorpay. WhatsApp + Razorpay = the dominant payment-by-message flow for Indian service businesses.

Examples

  • A salon sends payment link via WhatsApp using Razorpay → customer pays UPI → confirmation auto-syncs.
  • A D2C ecom uses Razorpay Checkout for online orders → 2% transaction fee + UPI QR for in-store.
