BSP (Business Solution Provider)

Meta-approved third-party providers that resell WhatsApp Business API access.

BSPs aggregate Meta's WhatsApp API and resell it with a layered platform — usually adding features Meta doesn't have natively (multi-agent inbox, CRM, broadcast tools, template management, automation).

Indian-market BSPs include Wati, Gupshup, Interakt, AiSensy, Gallabox, Whatsoever, Doggu, and many smaller players. Pricing is conversation-based (Meta passes through) plus a platform fee per number.

The alternative is direct Cloud API — connecting straight to Meta without a BSP. Cheaper per message but requires more engineering.

India context

Picking a BSP is the most impactful decision Indian SMBs make for WhatsApp. The wrong one means template approval delays, broadcast failures, no Hindi/regional support, and no place to escalate when Meta makes a change.

Examples

  • A salon picks Wati for its ease of use.
  • A 50-person sales team uses Doggu for its CRM + voice + WhatsApp combo.
  • A tech-heavy ecom store uses Cloud API direct for cost savings.

FAQ

Should I pick a BSP or go direct?

Direct (Cloud API) if you have engineering resources and want lowest cost. BSP if you want a packaged platform with multi-user inbox, automation, and support.

Can I switch BSPs later?

Yes — number portability between BSPs is supported by Meta. Process: 1-2 weeks of coordination, but messages and templates can largely transfer.

Are BSPs regulated?

Meta has BSP partner agreements. India-side, BSPs deal with TRAI/DLT compliance for the SMS part of their stacks but WhatsApp itself doesn't fall under TRAI.
